Here's a quick guide to help you prepare your photos, videos, and other media before bringing them to us. Follow these tips to help us give you the best results.

Slides & Transparencies

You can leave them in the trays or carousels they came in.

If you'd like us to sort them into folders (like “Europe Trip 1982” or “Mum’s Wedding”), just include a note with each group.

We’ll name your digital folders to match.

Negatives (35mm, APS, etc.)

Keep them in their original sleeves or place them in a clean envelope.

Group them by event or year if you can, and label the outside (e.g., “Summer 1995”).

We’ll use your labels to organize the files.

Printed Photos

Sort into small stacks by event or theme.

Use paper clips, elastic bands, or envelopes to keep each group together.

Label each group so we can name the folders accordingly.

VHS & Camcorder Tapes

Wipe off any dust from the outside of the tapes.

Break off the little record tab to prevent overwriting.

Clearly label each one with anything you remember (e.g., “Graduation 2001”).

If a tape has been damaged, chewed, or is faulty, please add a note, we may still be able to repair or recover it, but at the very least, we’ll know to take extra care so it doesn’t get stuck in our player.

Bundling tapes from the same event? Great, just add a note like “All from 1996 Holiday.”

8mm, Super 8 & 16mm Film

Leave the film on its original reels.

Label each one with helpful information (e.g., “Dad’s 40th – 1980”).

If several reels go together, bundle them and add a note.

Audio Cassettes

Label each one clearly.

If you’ve got a group of tapes from one event or project, keep them together and let us know.

We’ll use those notes to label the digital files.

A Few Final Tips

Group things by event, year, or theme if you can.

Use sticky notes, paper labels, or even just write on the bag.

Add your name and contact info in the box or bag, just in case.

Got a photo that’s torn, faded, or damaged? We also offer photo restoration and can give you a quote when you bring it in.
